Grain Truck Probes

Standard Shuttle Probe

Over the years CR Manufacturing has refined and improved our Shuttle Grain Probes. They have many features as standard equipment that others do not. Our Standard Shuttle Probe is primarily designed for up to 180 degrees of rotating mast on a single lane of grain trucks. It continues to provide excellent value for country elevators, livestock feeders, food plants, and feed mills.

Dual Lane Standard Shuttle Probe

We offer the Dual Lane Standard Shuttle as an economical alternative to the Shuttle II, for customers that need dual lanes but only on a seasonal basis, not daily year-round traffic. Our customers requested a grain probe that could handle dual lanes and we responded with the Standard Shuttle able to swing 270 degrees and pull grain samples from two lanes safely, saving busier seasonal grain elevators time and increasing their profitability. With a slightly larger bases footprint (30" x 30") it has solved the application of facilities with seasonal dual lane traffic.

Shuttle II Probe

Our Shuttle II Grain Probe rotates up to 320 degrees for dual truck lanes and is designed for high volume use at grain terminals, ethanol plants, flour mills, unit train facilities, and large processors. The Shuttle II offers 3' more boom reach, increased sidewall height, and a 9' sample head (stinger) than the Standard Shuttle models making it easy to reach the bottom of the grain trailers and is still the quickest and most accurate method of sampling grain. There are replaceable bearings at all major wear points and the probe can rotate up to 320 degrees to serve one or two trucks lines.

Pneumatic Grain Sampling

Pneumatic Grain sampling

Pneumatic Grain Sampling is the simplest, most accurate, and quickest method available for probing grain trucks.

Pneumatic stingers do not damage the grain from opening and closing the sample head doors.

Air flowing through the pneumatic stinger transports the grain sample.

As the grain truck probe is pushed down, the grain forced up inside the tip is caught in the air flow and drawn in to the sample catch box.

The amount of air flowing through the stinger is preset to a standard amount at the factory, but can be field adjusted if required, providing a very accurate and representative sample of the load.

Low Pressure Hydraulics

Our Shuttle Grain Probes can generate 700 lbs. of down pressure, but from experience we have learned that 200 to 300 lbs. of down pressure is more than enough to probe to the bottom of a semi hopper. Our hydraulic system pressure is set to a maximum of 750 psi compared to the 1200 to 1500 psi with other probes.

Free Turning Design

When a truck leaves too soon, the probe stinger is free swinging and the mast assembly will free turn side to side without damaging the turn chain, turn motor, etc. You can go right back to probing trucks. No shear pins or chains and sprockets to repair.

Self-Contained Design

All hydraulic, vacuum, and electrical components are located in the probe base. In addition to having a cleaner design, it helps to protect hoses and wiring from excessive damage and weathering.

Dual Flood Lights

All of our Shuttle Probes come equipped with dual LED lights. They turn with the mast and are more resistant to damage from vibration, wind, hail, snow and ice than conventional floodlights.

Hydraulic Pump Timer

If the probe is not used for five minutes, the hydraulic pump will shut off automatically and restart only when one of the function buttons is pressed (up – down – left – right – in – out).

Signal Buzzer

Loud probe mounted buzzer is normally used to signal drivers when they can leave.

Hydraulic Oil

Provides excellent cold weather operation and eliminates the need for a hydraulic tank heater, for most customers. Food-grade hydraulic oil is an available option.
